William McClelland
1820 - 1876

William McClelland, the third child of Robert and Charlotte Council McClelland, was born on January 19, 1820, in Fancy Creek Township, Sangamon County, Illinois. This was just six months after his parents arrival there.

William McClelland was raised in the vicinity of Sherman, in Fancy Creek Township.

On August 29, 1844, William was married to Margaret Sayles, following, the daughter of Thomas Sayles and Jemima Brown.

William McClelland died in Sangamon County on April 17, 1876, at the age of 56.
