Anders Ekelund 1842 - 1922

Anders Ekelund was born in Sweden on May 13, 1842. Sofia, his wife, is believed to be the daughter of Lars and Catherine Sund. Sofia was born on December 1, 1843, also in Sweden.

Anders Ekelund was a career army officer. Anders and Sofia were married in Sweden on September 14, 1865. They had ten children, of which Carl Petrus Eklund was the sixth. Five of the children were born in Drared Toarp County, Vastergotlund, Sweden. Also, five of the children migrated to the United States, while the other five remained in Sweden.

Four daughters who remained in Sweden married prominent business men. A son, Colonel Fritz Ekelund, was an officer in the King's Regiment.

Anders died on September 27, 1922. Sofia died on September 26, 1940, at the age of 96.
