Alice Sarah Dean

Alice Sarah Dean was born near Washingtonville in Montour County, Pennsylvania, on June 29, 1842, one of 9 children born to Joseph Dean (1786 - 1867) adn Adeline C. Cole (d. 1858). Joseph Dean was an officer in the War of 1812. His grandfather, who was born and died in England, is reported to have been and aide-de-camp to General Wolfe at the Battle of Quebec in 1759.
Alice Sarah Dean was married to Thomas J. Foster on April 22, 1869, at Watsontown, Pennsylvania. They resided in Michigan until their removal to Harper County, Kansas, in 1883.
Thomas and Alice Foster had five sons and one daughter. Dean Foster was a prominent physician in Stamford, Connecticut. Two sons, Graham and Hugh, became attorneys. Peggy was a school teacher and married E.L. Fulton, educator and later a realtor. Andrew Foster was an executive with Cities Service Oil Company. Lloyd Thomas Foster, following, continued the family's farm tradition. Alice Foster was a charter member of the Freeport Presbyterian Church, founded in 1884. She died at Stamford, Conn. on Oct. 23, 1926, and is buried at Freeport, Kansas.
