Thomas J. Foster

Thomas J. Foster was born on September 14, 1841, near Edwardsburg, Cass County, Michigan. His parents, Andrew Foster (1790 - 1870) and Rachel McMichael (1804 - 1884) were both born and raised near Warrior Run and Washingtonville in Central Pennsylvania.
Thomas J. Foster was one of 9 children. He was married on April 22,1869, to Alice Sarah Dean at Watsontown, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, after which they resided on the farm in Michigan where Thomas J. Foster had been born. While there, Thomas J. Foster platted the town of Granger in nearby Harris Prarie Twp., St. Joseph Co., Indiana, where his maternal grandparents, John and Mary McAffee McMichael had settled in 1832 or 1833.
Thomas J. Foster and his wife and six children settled in the community of Freeport, Harper Co., Kansas, in November of 1883. Thomas J. Foster was a leader in the Freeport community, in Harper County. His death occurred on February 11, 1899, at Freeport, Kansas, where he is buried.
