Laura Alvira Malnburg
1879 - 1965

Laura Alvira Malnburg was born on January 13, 1879, at Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa. She was the fourth of the ten children of John and Mary Sophia (Hagglund) Malnburg.

Laura was married on October 3, 1900, to the Rev. Carl Petrus Eklund at Red Oak, Iowa. She was 22 years of age and he was 23. Soon thereafter they moved to Burlington, Iowa, where Rev. Eklund was minster of the Swedish Methodist Church. Their first child, Thelma Lucille Eklund, was born there on November 7, 1903. Their eldest son, Carl Gabriel Warren Eklund, was born there on July 30, 1907. A third son, John Andrew Manley Eklund, was born on September 14, 1909.

The family resided variously thereafter in Denver and in Lindsborg and Salina, Kansas. Rev. Eklund died in 1940. Laura resided in Ellsworth with her daughter, Thelma Lucille, who never married, for several years before Laura's death at Ellsworth on 27 December, 1965, at age 85. She is buried with her husband in Gypsum Hill Cemetery at Salina.
