Wilhelmina Christina Stahl

Wilhelmina Christina Stahl was born on 23 April 1814 in Lomersheim, Dist. Maulbronn, Wurttemburg, Germany. She was the daughter of Johan Michael Stahl and Maria Catherina (Durr) Stahl.
Wilhelmina's parents joined the Harmony Society's religious commune at New Harmony, Indiana, in 1817, adn moved with the Society to its final colony at Economy, Penn. in 1824. Wilhelmina was among the Harmonists who left the Society to found a separate colony nearby in 1832. Her parents remained Harmonists. Wilhelmina was about 18 years old.
Wilhelmina married Jacob Welhoff on 13 Jan. 1833 in Beaver Co., Pennsylvania, where they remained when the cult disbanded in 1834. The Welhoffs lived in Pennsylvania until 1838, then in Dearborn Co., Indiana until about 1857. They lived in Benton Co., Missouri until about 1861 when they settled in Mercer County, Illinois. They were living at Alexis, Warren Co., Illinois whe Jacob died on 31 Aug. 1889 following 56 years of marriage. Jacob and Welhelmina had nine children.
Wilhelmian Welhoff died on 11 December 1893 at Alexis, Warren Co., Illinois, and is buried with her husband in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Norht Henderson Twp., Mercer Co., Illinois.
