Cornelia Fritts
1789 - 1867

Cornelia Fritts was born on November 22, 1789, in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. She was a daughter of George Fritts and Anna (Able) Fritts, of Bethlehem Township. Cornelia was a granddaughter of Frederick Fritts, a Revolutionary War patriot.

Cornelia Fritts was baptized on May 24, 1790 at the Zion Lutheran Church of Oldwick, New Jersey. Whe was confirmed at Spruce Run Church in the autumn of 1811. Cornelia was married to Samuel Alexander Johnston in Hunterdon County on July 30, 1714, by Rev. Hazelius.

The Johnstons lived from 1814 to about 1830 in New Jersey, then relocated in Clermount County Ohio. They later removed to Cook County, Illinois, where Samuel Johnston was a farmer. Samuel died in 1861.

Cornelia Fritts Johnston died in 1867. She is buried with her husband in the Euclid Cemetery at Arlington Heights, Illinois.

The Johnstons had six children between 1815 and 1823 born in New Jersey, including Eliza Van Horn Johnston.
