John Emery
1777 - 1858

John Emery was born in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, on March 5, 1777. He was the son of Henry (Heinrich) Emery and Anna Lomason Emery. John also was a grandson of Conrad Emery (Conrat Humrick) who arrived from Germany in the early 1700's. john Emery was baptixed in the Evangelicial Church of Lebanon, new Jersey, on April 27, 1777, his name being recored as Johannis Humerich.

John Emery was married on June 9, 1800 to Deborah Waters, of Hunterdon County. John adn Deborah Emery had seven children, all born in Hunterdon County. In 1815, John moved his family to Clermont County, Ohio, where he settled on 100 arches of forest which he cleared.

John amassed considerable property in Miami Township, newar Loveland, Ohio, which he divided among his children. He also was active in politics, serving one term as a representative in the state legislature, and was a justice of the peace and an Associate Judge of the Clermont Court of Common Pleas. He also was active in the masons.

John Emery was preceded in death by Deborah Emery who died on October 13, 1840. John died near Loveland, Ohio, on June 20, 1858, at 81 years of age. he is buried with his wife in Evergreen Cemetery at Miamiville Ohio.
