Lloyd Thomas Foster
1875 - 1953

Lloyd Thomas Foster was born on February 18, 1875, at Edwardsburg, Michigan, the 4th child of Thomas J. and Alice Sarah Dean Foster. The Foster family settled near Freeport in Harper Co., Kansas, when Lloyd was eight years old.

Lloyd attended Lewis Academy in Wichita. He thereafter purchased a quarter section of land two miles south of his parents' farmstead. Later he purchased a farmstead adjacent to that of his parents. On October 9, 1901, Lloyd was married to Nellie Herst, daughter of David and Lucinda Herst.

Lloyd was an elder in the Freeport Presbyterian Church, and for 39 years was a member of the school board of School District No. 21, known as the Foster School because of it's location on land owned by Lloyd's father. Lloyd was also a member of the Masons and Order of the Eastern Star.

Following the death of Nellie in 1922, Lloyd was married second to Cliffe Nash Goodwin. He retired in 1947 and moved to Halstead, Kansas, where Thomas L. Foster resided. Lloyd died on October 23,1953, at Halstead. His widow died there in 1959. They both are buried in the Freeport Cemetery.
